My best friend (neighbor Kelly) and I threw our two-year-old boys a joint birthday party again this year - and I think its officially a tradition. We started it last year with the sweetest English garden theme, and it turned out so cute that we knew we had to do it again. We keep saying we are going to keep this going until they’re eighteen… or at least until they stop letting us!
This year’s theme was vintage circus: bold, playful, and full of charm - just like Knight & Tripp. It all started with the invitations from Minted. I found the perfect design that captured the look and feel we wanted and then built the entire color palette around it. We ordered a matching welcome sign, custom gift bag tags, place settings, and decorations to tie everything together. And since we have a mix of ages in our friend group, I added personalized journals from Minted as party favors for all the kids—such a special keepsake.
The party was all about nostalgic details, soft primary colors, and lots of whimsy. I wish I could take credit for the balloon garland, but Swanky Balloon nailed my inspo. Once we had the party tables set up, we just kept layering on more balloons, garlands, and color. One of my favorite little touches was stringing up polaroids of the boys from helium balloons—it felt personal and celebratory in the sweetest way. We brought in a bounce house and ball pit to occupy the kids, but the real showstopper was the train rides. We had it running for two hours straight, and the kids were obsessed!
Such a sweet and special day. I get so much joy out of planning these! Already dreaming up Navy’s birthday this summer…
