VERTICAL STRIPES, TWICE

PinExt VERTICAL STRIPES, TWICE

Definitely the vertical stripes initially caught my eye and the red/cream/black unfinished lining was a complete plus. Both versatility and a pretty price tag made a great match for the closet. Something I enjoy most in fashion is taking one piece and creating several looks. Although I love cutesy and classy, my favorite style of all is a more funky-hip thrown together look. I initially wore this blouse with black leggings, heels, and a low knotted bun to a dinner with the husband, however after three days of summer showers and attempting to run errands in our new Nashville, I changed it up a bit.  For a more casual look I combined a super soft legging, mid-calf boots, favorite scarf, and a simple ponytail. Hope you guys like these looks! See links below.

I will be announcing the PINK GIVEAWAY tomorrow, so please enter to win if you haven’t already! Thanks so much to fab’rik Austin for sponsoring this giveaway!

  1. The first look is very chic ! But I think I’m loving the second edgier look out of the two. Thanks for showing variety in the way to style a shirt – great work :)

  2. I am also a fan of the edgier pieces myself. I think this striped blouse was a great purchase and I can see it being very versatile. I also love the remix factor most in pieces. Great job mixing this up!

  3. Hi! LOVE your blog AND your style! You’re gorg! Though both of those looks are fabulous, im really a fan of the grey jeans as well as scarf in the summer! Quick question.. What’s the name of the nail polish you’re wearing in the second look? I cant tell if you’re wearing in the first look or not.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Sarah! Thanks so much of the kind words! I favor the casual look as well! The polish is called Lacey Lilac by Sally Hansen! Hope you can find it…If not in stores, then online!

  4. Love both looks!!

  5. Just found your blog through pinterest–love it! I’m really curious, though: how do you create such a great messy bun?!

    Sarah07.16.12 @ 12:34 pmReply
    • Hi Sarah! Thanks for visiting my site..so glad you picked it up through Pinterest! To be honest, the messy buns are somewhat luck in how they turn out. A few tips on what I do….I completely tease my hair then if I am doing a low bun I simply put my hair in an off center bun with a pony tail holder and then begin to pin it will bobby pins in whatever way to render a messy/thrown together look. With the top bun, I tease and literally make a knot on the top, center and then pull it out and pin it in several different ways to give that same messy look. Sometimes it looks great and other times it doesn’t. You just have to be patient till you get the right look…at times it takes me 4 or 5 tries till I get the look I want. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by Happily Grey!

  8. What color are your boots and are they the same ones that are in your gray lace shirt picture?

    Stephanie09.07.12 @ 1:47 pmReply
    • Yea it’s the same boot. They are a weathered black…really distressed. I got them 4 yrs ago from DSW. Frye has similar styles!

  9. How old would you say those jeans are? I have never seen jeans come out of BR that look like that, almost a moto style. Are they grey or just an off denim? Thanks!
